SECRET Revealed: A SECRET Novel (Secret Trilogy) - L. Marie Adeline

Description

The only thing that Cassie Robichaud has ever really wanted is Will Foret, the love of her life. But when Will discovered Cassie’s role in S.E.C.R.E.T, an underground group devoted to helping women experience their deepest sexual fantasies, his reaction broke Cassie’s heart.

Now, Cassie has dried her tears and devoted herself to helping the latest S.E.C.R.E.T recruit, Solange Faraday – a beautiful, brilliant local news anchor and divorced mom, who has a great career but a wilting love life.

As both women blossom, their chance at finding true love is revealed to be closer than they ever imagined…

An irresistible, erotically charged and unforgettable romance series, perfect for fans of E. L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy and Sylvia Day’s Bared to You.

S. Submission E. Erotic C. Cheesy R. Readable E. Expected T. Troubled Book 3 The hottest scenes with the book hands down go to Solange Faraday, I knew from the get go she was not at all over her ex-husband, Julius. What I didn't like was the fact that I felt like I was being pulled in too many different i directions. I mean the story follows Cassie, Will, Claire, Solange, Julius, & Jesse...I've never felt close to Cassie but in this book I felt myself totally over her. She is supposed to come off strong and sexy but instead she kind of comes of like Sookie Steakhouse just so damn annoying. I hated Will from the beginning but by the end I was pissed there wasn't more about him. I do not think Jesse is man enough....I know it's odd but he was so damn MOODY seriously get of your damn period! This is the last of the Secret novels and I felt that it was just simply Meh. I didn't grip on to the pages. Half of the time I felt like and I skimming through it. However I will say it was interesting watching the drama that revolved around everyone. And I also liked just the premise of this whole series; watch was basically about sexual freedom. I'm not sure if I would ever personally do it but then again that's why I read, in order to live through them.

Lily Atwood lives in what used to be called Washington, D.C. Her father is one of the most powerful men in the world, having been a vital part of rebuilding and reuniting humanity after the war that killed over five billion people. Now he’s running to be one of its leaders.

But in the rediscovered peace on Earth, a new enemy has risen. They call themselves the Revealed – a powerful underground organization that has been kidnapping 18 year olds across the globe without reservation. No one knows why they are kidnapping these teens, but it’s clear something is different about these people. They can set fires with a snap of their fingers and create a wind strong enough to barrel over a tree with a flick of their wrist. No one has been able to stop them, and they have targeted Lily as their next victim.

But Lily has waited too long to break free from her father’s shadow to let some rebel organization just ruin everything. Not without a fight.

The Reveled is a new Dystopian novel by debut author Jessica Hickam.

I want to say I hate giving negative reviews to new authors. They are all so proud of themselves, (as they should be) and giving them harsh reviews is like kicking a puppy. But I’m sorry someone has to do it.

The Revealed is centered around 18-year-old, Lily Atwood, who is the daughter of one of the worlds most powerful men. Over the last five years, 18 year-olds have been kidnapped by the Revealed and because of that Lily has basically been a prisoner in her home. Even with all of her father’s security they managed to leave notes inside their house.

SO MANY ISSUES!

One of the biggest problem with this book is the fact that nothing is explained! Nothing at all!

This is a dystopian novel and all that we are told is that there was a war, which caused everyone to move to the east coast. The west cost is basically a wasteland.

For a book called the revealed I sure as hell have a lot of questions!

What started the war? I have no idea.

What happened out west? Bombs? Floods? Wild fire? I think it was a bomb….I think. It may have been said once.

What are the Revealed Of all the things going the group seems very random.

What does the world look like outside of Lily’s Mega Castle? I get it Lily is a prisoner in her house but why do I have to be too?

There is no real talk about the outside world other then the fact that there are a lot of factories. This world building is so poor I can barely call this a dystopian.

The writing

I want to claw my own eyes out, it was so painful to read! Urgh. It had nothing to do with typos or mistakes; it was just the way in which she wrote.

“The drive home is short; I’d made it less than a mile.”….Why use so many words? Why not just say “I’d made it less than a mile?”

The love story

It happened so fast. One moment they are getting to know each other with a flip of a page they are willing to die for each other.

Author Claire Wallis Interview!

PushbyClaireWallis

Her Bio

Claire Wallis has penned hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles over the last ten years, with science playing the lead role in almost all of them. Though non-fiction writing will forever be her first love, fiction has unexpectedly swooped in, hooked her by the soul, and become her true love. As a result of this coup d’état, Claire’s writing career has made a complete U-turn, and instead of rocks, plants, insects, and microbes, she is now putting human characters in the lead.

Enamored with the process of creating messy characters filled with imperfections and wicked inclinations, Claire believes that you don’t actually have to like a character to fall in love with them – a good story, after all, is best served with a hearty side of evil (just ask Disney). Claire’s first New Adult novel,Pushis scheduled for release by Harlequin MIRA in 2014. The story speaks to her appreciation of enigmatic male characters, perfectly capable of charming themselves straight into your unwilling heart. She enjoys writing about characters that are, at any given moment, both loathed and loved. You know, the ones that refuse to be forgotten.

Claire’s previous jobs include working at a limestone quarry, hawking vegetables at a farmer’s market, clerking at the dollar store, and convincing new mothers that they need to renew their subscription to that parenting magazine in order for their child to survive. She lives in Pennsylvania with her amazingly awesome husband and son.

Our Interview

What does Push mean to you?

When I was a kid, I used to write short stories. They were just a few pages of hand-written words, but they were always about a young girl who was experiencing some kind of tragedy in her life. I remember one that I was particularly proud of. It was called Opposite Streams, and it was about a high school track star whose parents were divorcing, and their split was going to take her little brother away from her. I remember giving it to my father to read, just like I did with all my stories. When he handed it back to me, he told me that it was good, but then he added, “Why do you always write about bad things? Why don’t you write about happy things for once?”. I was in 8th or 9th grade, and I remember thinking, “Where’s the fun in that?? Nice things don’t make interesting stories.” I still feel the same way. Even as an adult I’m drawn to two kinds of books: ones that take me into a different culture through the lives of the characters and ones that take me inside of someone’s mind, someone who is VERY different from me. To me, the best books take your emotions places they seldom get to go in real life.

I had an awesome childhood, and back then, writing about “bad things” was a way for me to explore a life – and emotions – I had never experienced myself. I gave up writing short stories soon after my father made those comments, but not because of what he said. Because I just moved on to other things. In a way, I guess PUSH was my way of returning to all that. Writing this book allowed me to delve into someone else’s head and feel all the things that they were feeling. So to answer your question, writing PUSH meant an opportunity for me to create two people who hopefully will allow readers to experience something they never have before. To feel things that might surprise them. And perhaps to sympathize with someone they might find completely unsympathetic in real life.

What inspired you to write Push? The genesis of David’s character happened years ago. I wrote a page of his words into a notebook in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep. David’s voice in PUSH is very different than his voice in my original notes, though he is the same person at the core. Those notes sat in the bottom drawer of my nightstand for several years, but I got them out when a lunch date with a friend turned inspirational. She encouraged me to make David’s words into a story, and PUSH is what came out.

Is anything based on someone you know, or events in your own life? Nope. The story is completely fictional. All the characters and events are imagined (though I do have a friend who’s mother would leave a blank check made out to “cash” on the kitchen counter every time she went out of town on a business trip, just like Emma’s mother does).

What books have most influenced your life? I use books as an escape from the familiar, as a way to mentally “run away” from real life. The books I choose to read are often better at enhancing my life than they are at influencing it. Two books that I have read over and over again are A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith and A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. I loved them both because they made me feel something deep and completely new.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? My hope is not that the book delivers a particular message but that it delivers a series of emotions. I hope that PUSH makes readers think and feel and question what they believe is right. I also hope it opens up a dialogue between readers. That’s what I love about book clubs. I love being able to talk about a book with other people, to see what everyone else got out of the story. No matter how different the opinions are, it’s exciting to discover different views on any particular book. It’s thrilling for me to read reviews of PUSH (both good and not-so-good) because it allows me to get a better grasp on all the unique ways that people see David and Emma and this part of their story.

What was the hardest part of writing Push? Making sure the timeline added up. The sequence of events had to be just right in order to give readers a proper glimpse into the past while keeping the present David and Emma at the forefront of the story. Each chapter had to build on the ones before.

Do you have any advice for other New writers?  Since PUSH is my first novel, I’m not sure I’m fit to dole out any advice on fiction writing. It’s all pretty new to me. But what I will say is that if you love to write, write. And keep on writing until you get to the end. You’ve got to finish what you start. Then move on. I was very lucky in that I wrote PUSH, signed on with an agent, and connected with my publisher in a little less than a year. I don’t know much about the fiction publishing industry, but I do know that some people write 10 novels before they hook up with an agent. Realizing that rejection happens seems to be a pretty important step. I guess the thing to remember is that you shouldn’t let rejection stop you. Be the kid that asks 27 girls to the prom before one says “yes”. The point is not that he had to ask 27 girls, but that he gets to go to the prom.

A Loveswept Contemporary Erotic Romance

In Lea Griffith’s Loveswept debut, a novel that’s perfect for erotic romance readers, two lovers who have shared exquisite pain and unforgettable bliss find solace back in each other’s arms.

Jeremiah Copeland and Daly Edwards have a history. Even though he grew up a criminal struggling to care for two younger siblings, and she’s the pampered daughter of a power-hungry senator, they formed a bond that nothing could break. Only a lack of trust ripped them apart.

Seven years later, Daly has reason to believe that Jeremiah’s brother is in trouble. She reaches out to Jeremiah the only way she knows how: at his BDSM club, The Underground. But one look ignites a heat she thought had cooled forever. As Jeremiah takes control of her body once again, Daly quickly loses control of her carefully rebuilt world. Too much has never been enough between them, and as danger swirls in the shadows, Jeremiah forces Daly to recognize what has never changed: She still loves him. His command is that she return her heart—and he will make her obey.

Too Much is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as excerpts from other Loveswept titles.

Too Much

Have you ever read a book where it feels you have just jumped into the middle of the plot? There is no build up, no easing you in, just BOOM in your face. For some books that works but for Too Much it only confused me.

You see the story takes place three years after Jeremiah Copeland and Daly Edwards have broken up. They used to be in a Dom/ Sub relationship, so of course there is baggage. The only problem is I didn’t understand how deep their relationship was before, what either of them met to each other, or anything that really made me connect to them.

So basically we, the reader, are left to play catch up. Apparently Jeremiah was involved with the mafia (where the hell did that come from), but Daly did not like that. So she leaves only to come back after getting Jeremiah’s brother’s class ring. She thinks he’s in trouble so goes she goes to Jeremiah.

Up until this point it wasn’t really that bad. I was a little lost but I was getting it and then….

SEX

Now don’t get me wrong. It was hot but that was all it was. I felt like the plot that was slowing building disappeared as all we got was sex. This is also one of those stories where the heroine says she will not give into the guy….but five minutes into seeing him their “connection” is so strong they are at again.

Some things I really liked

*Toby and Ruthie
*Candace
*No inst-love/lust—But then again they already were kind of in a relationship when we meet the MCs.

Other then that is was nothing really new. We have a Daly the “innocent” shy but strong willed girl. Jeremiah the drop dead sexy alpha who had a hard not life growing and has trust issues. Where have wee seen this before? But I guess it’s on me because I keep reading them!

Sixteen-year-old Jansin Nordqvist is on the verge of graduating from the black ops factory known as the Academy. She's smart and deadly, and knows three things with absolute certainty:
1. When the world flooded and civilization retreated deep underground, there was no one left on the surface.
2. The only species to thrive there are the toads, a primate/amphibian hybrid with a serious mean streak.
3. There's no place on Earth where you can hide from the hypercanes, continent-sized storms that have raged for decades.
Jansin has been lied to. On all counts.

Heroine: 6/10—Somewhere between Katniss and Tris

Some Fine Day

The Good.
This was not a bad dystopian at all. One of my favorite parts of the book happened right in the beginning when the MC is on the underground train. The author starts building this new dystopian world right then. The MC is staring out the window watching the green grass when all of a sudden it’s changed to the dessert. I thought it was cool mostly because I could totally see them on a train underground with no view of the “above” world. We also find out that there are movies and things but no new one since they were forced underground by the storms. I’m a sucker for the little detail in books and Some Fine Day had a bunch of good ones.

Jansin Nordqvist (super odd name I think the author was trying to take a Hunger Games effect.) is 16 and about to graduate from The Academy, (think of a school of dauntless from Divergent). So she’s supposed to be a bad ass. She has been trained since she was young. I’m not really what for but It helps because her father is works as a general in the Military Jansin is able to go up to the surface and she cant wait. Sadly when they go she is attacked at night and separated from everyone. Due to this she uncovers that there people still living on the surface. (GASP!)

The Bad

Did you really want me to believe that the only reason that mankind went underground was because of storms?

Yea no.

Another problem with this was the issue of the romance between Jansin and Will. Will is a slightly older “physic” from the surface who takes on a teacher role. But honestly I didn’t feel a connection between them. I wanted to know more about the world.

The World

As great as the small details are I still had an issue with how much time is spent on describing the weather. On top of that is how often if felt like the scene was changing. One minute we were above ground, underground and then in a damn forest. It all didn’t mesh together.

Lastly I had an issue with the fact that this wasn’t really different then any other dystopian I have read. It wasn’t iconic or ground breaking; it was just okay. I did have to skip a few pages just because it was long and drawn out. I feel asleep reading twice.

All and all it wasn’t that bad. But if you are looking for something new this might not be it for you. I think the author missed a chance on some things.

This is the story of how we became freaks. It's how a group of I's became a we.

When Class 10B got their flu shots, they expected some side effects. Maybe a sore arm. Maybe a headache. They definitely didn't expect to get telepathy. But suddenly they could hear what everyone was thinking. Their friends. Their teachers. Their parents. Now they all know that Tess has a crush on her best friend, Teddy. That Mackenzie cheated on Cooper. That Nurse Carmichael used to be a stripper. Some of them will thrive. Some of them will break. None of them will ever be the same.

A smart and funny story about friendship, first love and surviving high school from the bestselling author of Ten Things We Shouldn't Have Done.

What A Waste!

This book shot it’s self! The premise was really amazing. I mean imagine going to get a flu shot and waking up the next day with the ability to read minds. But your not alone it’s your whole class! Can you imagine where the author could have taken us with this one? There could have been a murder. The kids could have helped each other with personal issues no one knew new they had. They could have seriously affected the world! This could have been AMAZING. But you know what the author did instead?

She dragged us through 305 pages of mind-numbing romantic babble.

SERIOUSLY! Urg. Maybe I’m getting too old to read YA (gasp never!) or maybe authors really believe that young adults would like to waste their time on this. (Which I just can’t believe). I mean we have The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Faults Of Our Stars, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. All of those books did amazingly well maybe because they didn’t just waste the story about juvenile relationships that 9 times out of ten will not last.

This book contains every teenage after school cliché there is! But to add salt on my book wounds there were love triangles.

This books takes place in the mind of the students, thankfully not all 23 that were affected after the flu shot. Instead living in the heads of Olivia, Cooper, Pi, Mackenzie, Tess, to name a few. I didn’t mind that. I really didn’t. I just couldn’t believe all they wanted to do is be in relationships. I get it in high school we all wanted to be loved and have boyfriends. But the very fact that the author, an adult, made that the center of work is a little disheartening to me. Just because teens what to have a happier ever after in high school doesn’t mean it happens. Where are the real issues affecting them!

A WASTE!

Also when authors say “kill your darlings” they mean do it with a cause! Think of the Red Wedding! That is killing your darlings! What happens here is the fact we find out the shot given to the students was contaminated…just in case we didn’t realize that wasn’t supposed to happen….So the government comes in and decides to pay of the students on top of taking their powers!

Are you Kidding me!

Let’s break this down. The government. Home of the CIA, always looking to gather new intel and people….is going to erase their abilities? The government of almost every country will give jobs to great hackers instead of giving them jail time. But when it comes to kids with mind reading abilities they are just going to walk away?

I know I’ve said it twice but I will say it again WHAT A WASTE! This could have easily became the new Spy Games. I don’t get it. This was not a fun read for me. I was just angry. It’s like watching someone take ice cream and layer it with mold.

The Cover: 2/10—nothing special
Writing: 5/10
Heroine: 6/10
Romance: 1/10 In a crazy kind of way.
Sexiness: 0/10

I have no idea how to review this . Obsessed confused the hell out of me. From the summary you would think this story was going to be from the perspective of Michael Barton. I mean it seems like this whole story is based on his life. Instead this story was in third person. Strike One. I tend to not read books in 3rd person by authors I do not already know. The reason being it weird to read, it feels like I’m being told the story and not able to get into it.

Strike Two The book opens up with a murder/kidnapping? It was so confusing because I had to check the summary again…I thought I got the wrong book. What was worse was it felt like the author was spoon feeding me the “twist”

In the first chapter the MC’s car breaks down and she sees a car coming.

“Was it a rapist? A Murder?”

When she realizes she knows the person (a man we are not told the name of) the MC says “ “No houses, just warehouse buildings that wouldn’t open until morning.” Having the “thriller” part at the beginning of the book is annoying. This isn’t a TV show it’s a book. It doesn’t draw me in especially if you are feeding me the plot the whole time!

Also this whole idea of it at first started interesting….I mean we read about girls who kind of stalk guys all the time. But this was just so URGH! I’m seriously just tired. I didn’t understand why she so Obsessed with Michael. We really didn’t get enough background? Was she just crazy?

Strike Three The page breaks in this was so weird.

Honestly this book will just confuse you…if you don’t believe me look at the other reviews/rating here. I get what the author was trying to do it just failed horribly.

Charlie is a freshman.

And while he's not the biggest geek in the school, he is by no means popular. Shy, introspective, intelligent beyond his year yet socially awkward, he is a wallflower, caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it.

Charlie is attempting to navigate his way through uncharted territory: the world of first dates and mix tapes, family dramas and new friends; the world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite. But he can't stay on the sidelines forever. Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a deeply affecting coming-of-age story that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up.

So I stopped everything I was doing…even the ARCs I was reading because I saw this book at my friends house this afternoon. I hadn’t even noticed that I had marked it up before.

This book is beyond special. It was slow at first mostly because it was dealing with a boy coming of age on top of his other issues. My heart broke for Charlie. I wanted to reach into the pages and pull him out of the darkness. I was beyond glad he had friends but their issues slowly become his issues as well. Charlie is the type of person that will put the whole world on his back and walk until his legs give out.

The amount of compassion, care, pain, hurt and love that dripped through all of the pages was not just beautiful but powerful. I wished Charlie’s parents were more in his life but I knew they cared which made everything so much harder to swallow.

I will not deny that I teared up…I don’t really cry over books. My throat starts get all full and water pools in my eyes but I don’t cry. That was how I felt at the end of this. It felt so real to me. What is “real” can easily be mistaken as cliche but that was not the case at all.

Gay friend who is proud of himself but has a closeted boyfriend.
Sister’s in an abusive relationship.
Brother was the all american boy in college.
Best girl friend (Sam) was abused as a child….just like Charlie, even though he can not speak about it to anyone. He just blacks out as if his mind is trying to protect him.
On top of that there is high school….where all of Charlie’s friends are seniors.

All of this can be seen as a lot. In fact it is a lot. But that is how great this author is. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is amazing and everyone should read it at least once.

My name is Vincent Marelli, though most people call me The Wolf. You’ve never met me, and if you’re lucky you never will. But in more ways than you could think of, I own you.

I run the biggest criminal operation in the world. We’re invisible but we’re everywhere. Wherever you go, whatever you do, however it is you spend your money, a piece of it lands in our pockets.

You would think that with that kind of power I would be invincible. You would be wrong. I made a mistake, one that a guy like me can never afford to make. I let my guard down. And because I did, my wife and daughters are gone. Murdered by terrorists with a lethal ax to grind.

That was my mistake.

But it was also theirs.

I wasn’t looking for a war with them. No one in my group was. But they’ve left me with nothing but a desire for revenge—so a war is what they’ll get. The full strength of international organized crime against every known terrorist group working today. Crime versus chaos.

We will protect our interests, and I will protect my son. We won’t get them all, but I will get my revenge, or I will die trying.

They will know my name.

They will feel my wrath.

They will fear The Wolf.

The Wolf

I really wanted to like this book. When I saw the cover I knew I was going to want it. But sadly it, like most nice covers, disappointed me. The Wolf is about Vincent Marelli, commonly called that because he runs “the biggest criminal operation in the world.” The story takes place in the wake of losing his wife and two daughters. Vincent, of course wants revenge and will not stop until someone pays the price. Sounds interesting right? I mean if that was a movie I would be in line trying to purchase a ticket.

The thing is I didn’t really see this as a mafia book; in fact it kind of felt like a secret society of villains. There is basically a large council of which Wolf leads of mafia people who basically secretly control the country. Vincent should be untouchable with that many people working around and for him. However he isn’t which makes no sense unless one of his own people are betraying them.

Within a few pages of this everything just because very messy. The author was just trying to do SO much and it lift me feeling confused.

Like:
Why the hell is the mafia fighting against terrorist?
How in the hell does no one know about Vincent when he’s everywhere?
Why is Vincent everywhere? As the Don he should be felt not seen?
Why is the whole story about Vincent but I don’t know feel any connection to him?
(I could keep going).

Another issue was having to reading between first and third person…from the same point of view.

All in all it was not what I expected or even wanted.

From debut author Amanda Maciel comes a provocative and unforgettable novel, inspired by real-life incidents, about a teenage girl who faces criminal charges for bullying after a classmate commits suicide.Emma Putnam is dead, and it's all Sara Wharton's fault. At least, that's what everyone seems to think. Sara, along with her best friend and three other classmates, has been criminally charged for the bullying and harassment that led to Emma's shocking suicide. Now Sara is the one who's ostracized, already guilty according to her peers, the community, and the media. In the summer before her senior year, in between meetings with lawyers and a court-recommended therapist, Sara is forced to reflect on the events that brought her to this moment—and ultimately consider her own role in an undeniable tragedy. And she'll have to find a way to move forward, even when it feels like her own life is over. With its powerful narrative, unconventional point of view, and strong anti-bullying theme, this coming-of-age story offers smart, insightful, and nuanced views on high school society, toxic friendships, and family relationships. Supports the Common Core State Standards.

Tease follows the life of Sara Wharton after Emma Putnam’s Suicide. Everyone believes (including me) that Sara was one of there reasons behind it. You see Sara is a heartless bitch who believes HER life is horrible and it’s EMMA’s fault.

Because of her Bully Sara is basically persona non grata by the whole school. On top of that the FBI is investigating and she has a court date to prepare for. ON top of that she has to get counseling!

I SAY GOOD!

Why? Why am so harsh with this evil little witch of a MC?

Here are some of her thoughts.

“She asked for it.”

“It didn’t have to happen if she didn’t do this… if she didn’t do that…”

“We didn’t kill her. She did this to herself.”

“Emma was a boyfriend-stealing bitch right up until the day in March when she killed herself. I didn’t do anything wrong, but she totally ruined my life.”

“My knees are still pale after this long, long summer spent inside, talking about my feelings, talking about a girl I barely knew who didn’t want to live. Didn’t want to live in the world that had me in it. And I’m still here, in this crappy world. Fighting her ghost.”

Don’t get me wrong Emily did break the girl code. It wasn’t as if she was a great person. She did make out with Dylan, Sara’s kinda boyfriend, then she also had sex with Tyler. Emily made mistakes. I will not sugar coat but. It’s not Like Sara was a good person either! The Slut shaming in this was off the charts!

Sara’s best friend, Brielle, kept calling Emma a slut and whore when she was getting around herself. Kettle met pot your both used for the same shit! Emma can easy be made into an angel because she’s dead. But I honestly think she was just trying to “fit” in with them and got in way too far.

What makes this all so much worse is the fact that Sara does not understand at all how her treatment of Emma must of felt. She isn’t stupid she just….so she’s stupid and cold blooded. By the end of the book she has barely changed.

I guess the author wanted to make us feel somewhat for Sara because she basically has to raise her siblings by herself. But I still wasn’t feeling her at all.

So why a 3.5?

This book was hard to rate for me. Any author that makes me feel so enraged by a fictional character is doing something right. Invoking emotion is the point of writing/reading right?

However even with that I issues with this. I hated the fact that Sara didn’t really change. When I learned that this book was coming from the bully’s point of view I was interested. But it just made me angry. All of this drama came from boys. What made that worse was the fact that none of the boys were shamed. Emma didn’t just kiss Dylan, Dylan kissed her. The fact that none of them realize how stupid it is bugs me. But then again I guess that’s highs school? Thank God I’m done with that.

Narrated by a fifteen-year-old autistic savant obsessed with Sherlock Holmes, this dazzling novel weaves together an old-fashioned mystery, a contemporary coming-of-age story, and a fascinating excursion into a mind incapable of processing emotions.Christopher John Francis Boone knows all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057. Although gifted with a superbly logical brain, Christopher is autistic. Everyday interactions and admonishments have little meaning for him. At fifteen, Christopher’s carefully constructed world falls apart when he finds his neighbour’s dog Wellington impaled on a garden fork, and he is initially blamed for the killing.Christopher decides that he will track down the real killer, and turns to his favourite fictional character, the impeccably logical Sherlock Holmes, for inspiration. But the investigation leads him down some unexpected paths and ultimately brings him face to face with the dissolution of his parents’ marriage. As Christopher tries to deal with the crisis within his own family, the narrative draws readers into the workings of Christopher’s mind. And herein lies the key to the brilliance of Mark Haddon’s choice of narrator: The most wrenching of emotional moments are chronicled by a boy who cannot fathom emotions. The effect is dazzling, making for one of the freshest debut in years: a comedy, a tearjerker, a mystery story, a novel of exceptional literary merit that is great fun to read.

Some people have Harry Potter or Sherlock Holmes as their first come to book moment. But no. This is the book that made me fall in love with reading. My teacher assigned it to me for honor lit, and so I got the audio book.

Chris, to me, is funny, real and just… I don’t know how to explain it. The fact that he has this illness which makes in really unable to understand human emotion is amazing to me.

I won’t do a full review but I think it’s a book everyone should read at least once. It’s not really the “Curious Incident of the Dog”, which Chris finds in his front lawn with a pitch fork in it, but more of Chris growth. It’s about a boy and his family all trying to deal with issues but not truly able to speak to one another.

I love two men. I screw two men. I am in a relationship with them both, and they are both aware there is another. That is all they need to know, that is all I let them know. They don't need to know a name; they don't need to know anything, but that they are not alone in my heart. They have accepted the situation. Stewart, because his life is too busy for the sort of obligations that are required in a relationship. Paul, because he loves me too much to tell me no. And because my sexual appetite is such that one man has trouble keeping up.So we exist, two parallel relationships, each running their own course, with no need for intersection or conflict. It works for us, for them, and for me. I don't expect it to be a long-term situation. I know there is an expiration date on the easy perfection of our lives.I should have paid more attention, should have looked around and noticed the woman who watched it all. She sat in the background and waited, tried to figure me out. Saw my two relationships, the love between us, and the moment that it all fell apart. She hates me.I don't even know she exists. She loves them. I love them. And they love me.EVERYTHING else hangs in the balance.

Guess what this story is about guys! Lol. Wow this book man.

“I love two men. I screw two men. I am in a relationship with them both, and they are both aware there is another. That is all I let them know. They don’t need to know a name; they don’t need to know anything, but that they are not alone in my heart.”

Oh my. I’m not even sure where to start with this one. No wait I do. Madison you lucky little bitch. Now I’m not sure if I personally handle a relationship with two men….to sinfully hot men. But I will not deny that I have dreamt about it once or twice or thr….Don’t look at me like that. If you have never ever had that thought pop into your heads even for a millisecond then I’m sorry your missing out.

I like Madison. She was honest with both men and herself from the very beginning. I’m not a fan of love tringles because it gets messy really quick. But in this story everyone knew their place.

“They both own my heart now, an equal decision fought over by two sets of blue eyes.”

Paul and Stewart are both different. (Besides if your going to sleep with to men they should be or else it would be boring.)

Paul is kind of a free spirit who only cares about surfing and Madison. He will do anything to keep her happy. He knows about her other guy and doesn’t really ask questions so long as he can have a part of her.

“Paul loves me with unconditional warmth, his affection public and obvious, his arms pulling me into him, his mouth littering my body with frequent kisses.”

While Stewart is more of a workaholic type. I’m not sure if he loves Madison but he sure enjoys fucking the hell out of her all day everyday. He’s actually the one who tells her get another man because he knows he will not be able to give her everything she wants in life. In a twisted way I kind of liked that about him…he cares…kind of I think?

“Stewart loves me with a tiger’s intensity, his need taking my breath away, his confidence in our relationship strong enough to not be bothered by the presence of another man. He stares into my soul as if he owns it, and shows his love with money, sex, and rare moments of time.”

Throughout the whole book I waiting for one of them to dump her. I mean this can’t work right? Either Stewart was going to step up and reclaim his woman or Paul was going to get sick of it and walk out.

I think what makes this book good is due to the fact that Madison is an everyday kind of girl. There isn’t anything huge about her to set her apart. Which gives hope to the rest of us right?

Over All Story 2/5To All the Boys I’ve Loved BeforeI need to start off by saying I truly love the title of this book. I don’t know why maybe it’s because it brings back memories of every guy I’ve ever had a “crush on”. I would never say I loved them because that would be slightly weird if we hadn’t talked.

“Do you know what it’s like to like someone so much you can’t stand it and know that they’ll never feel the same way? Yes it hurts! But come again I was never in “love” with them.

Another reason why I wanted to read this book was because of the diversity of it. I’ve said it before and I will say it every time I get a chance. We need more diversity in books!

I’ve looked through the other reviews of this book and realized that I’m part of the minority of people who weren’t a fan. I don’t find this book “cute” or “sweet” at all.
Lara Jean is 16 but acts like a child wanting to be an adult. Lara’s life is great expect for one small detail her SISTER’s boyfriend, Josh, doesn’t notice her. That’s right Lara is love with her sisters boyfriend but it’s okay because she’s loved him way before they started dating.

Lara does this thing were she writes letters to all the guys she’s ever loved…There are FIVE of them! Seriously five! To me that doesn’t make sense. How in the hell at 16 does already have 5 great loves?

Carrie Bradshaw only had TWO!

Sigh. So I did my best to look over that…whatever this is fiction. Then all of a sudden Lara’s letters are mailed out to her past loves….Yea because none of us saw that coming.

Lara, who is just distraught, decides the best way to deal with all of this is to pretend to be in a relationship with another guy Peter….

We can all guess what happens right?

Josh falls for Lara.
Lara thinks she following of Peter.
Peter is well just peter.

I don’t understand? This didn’t inspire me. There was anything new or special about this. In fact most of the time I was just bored out of my mind!

Other Issues

1. Ummm….Because this was a very stupid and unnecessarily added love triangle there wasn’t really a romantic element to the story.

2. Also Lara didn’t seem to mature or even bother growing up at all. She also doesn’t seem to get why dating her sisters very recent Ex is a horrible thing to do! Sisterhood Code #5

3. Why is Chris, her sluty best friend, (because never in a YA or NA can the main character ever have a friend that is not “wild”/ “Fun”,) even in this story? She does nothing. They barely speak to each other! I would rather Lara not have any friends then half baked ones, thrown in to make us think Lara has any real relationships.

“You’d rather make up fantasy version of somebody in your head than be with a real person.” ——It’s true which is why I’m confused why Lara never understood why that’s not healthy.

“It feels strange to have spent so much time wishing for something, for someone, and then one day, suddenly, you just stop.”

Maybe because you never really cared about that person! You were in love with the idea of them! Sigh. I can’t yell at this book any more!

Mr. & Mrs. Smith meets the Sopranos..."

To the outside world, they look like American Royalty, giving to charities, feeding the homeless, rebuilding the city. But behind closed doors is a constant battle for dominance between two Bosses, cultures, and hearts.

Ruthless People is a romantic crime fiction set in modern day Chicago, and follows the life and marriage of Melody Giovanni and Liam Callahan—rivals by blood and leaders through fear. Their marriage, arranged by their fathers in hopes to end years of bloodshed between the Irish and the Italians.

Liam believes he’s getting a simple-minded wife, one he can control, one who bends to his every need . . . the complete opposite of Melody. She knows exactly what type of man he is, and would rather die than give up the power she has spent her life building.

The Mafia of the past has evolved, and with rival bosses gunning for them, Melody and Liam will have to learn to work as one to take down those who stand in their way.

1 Marriage x 2 Bosses = 3x the Chaos

After reading this I fully understand why the tittle is Ruthless People.

I need to start of by saying I rated this a 4 before rereading. (As Wendy Williams says I’m a female I can change my mind if I want to)

My Ruthless Couple

The Cover: 10/10— Love it.

Heroine: 9.5/10—-She is so badass I love it.
Romance: 20/10 —-LIAM I LOVE YOU SO MUCH

MORE: The book had Alternating POV. which worked beautiful

Liam starts of as a chauvinistic pig, who only uses women to as sex toys and then throws money at them. We find out he has basically been whoring himself with the full knowledge that he is supposed to marry “Iron Hands’ daughter, Melody. Liam is the prince of the Callahan family and just itching to take over. He craves the power and is willing to give up all other women to get all the money, drugs and power that comes from marrying Giovanni.

“My father wants an end to the rivalry between the Irish and the Italians. So, even if she is ugly, or fat, or covered in bloody warts, I will do my duty and marry her.”

However Melody isn’t at all joking around. She is willing to get married but only if Liam understands that she isn’t going to just give up power to him. For years Melody has been ruling for her father in secret. She is not a warm and cozy character, nor does she believe in love and romance. All she cares about is respect, loyalty and power. If you even think of getting in her way she will kill you no ifs, no buts, you are SOOOO DEAD.

Her Give-A-Fuck-O-Meter is like

So what happens when Liam and Melody meet?

Well there is this…

and this

with a little more of this

and a whole lot more of this

So why did I rate it a 4 before?

Well upon first reading it i was just so shocked at how violent everything was. No seriously, if you read certain parts of this and are not offended, shocked, or just plain disgusted in their behavior you aren’t reading it right. But after rereading it I really enjoyed it because after all that is what the mafia is about right?

This is not solely a romance, there is a great deal of other things happening in the plot. But it is very fast moving.

All in all if you like shows like
Dexter
True Blood
Sons of Anarchy
and
Breaking Bad

Then Ruthless People is your new thing.

So if you look at the book cover and then my choices for the MCs then you can see the disconnect in my mind. I think this book was supposed to be edgy or something but at the end of the day all I felt was annoyance. Honestly I do not even want to waste time writing this review! I don’t like writing bad reviews. I never know were the line is before I truly come off mean. But I wasted time reading this book and I hope to spare you all the trouble.

So why do I hate this?

Again upon look at the title and the cover I was prepared for something dark and edgy! But no I was HOODWINKED, BAMBOOZLED, CHEATED! Not only was this book unbelievable but the amount of cheesiness in this could put rats into comas!

Riley meets when Hudson when she is 6 and not only is he mean but also pinches her. So what does Riley’s mom do? She takes her daughter to his house and asks him to protect her. But that was still at the beginning at the book. So I just let it pass.

Then the stupidity came in.

The author wanted us to believe that Riley was so damn innocent….if fact all of the characthers were just so damn stupid.

Tell me what kind of teenager doesn’t know what the hell a French kiss is? Or an adult that doesn’t know want anal sex is? What in the hell? Fine I’ll give you that one maybe you haven’t ever listened to rap or talked to a guy. Fine whatever. But every bloody sexual joke goes over your head? Everyone?

Riley you read romance books!

Hudson

Why does being a bad boy mean being an asshole to the girls you like? In my head he was just acting tuff…there was nothing to him.

But I could have gotten over this if there was some damnCHEMISTRY….I’m not sure what the sin was? If there was anything that made me like them as a couple! They can both kick rocks for all I care.

If you like useless drama that does nothing, wana-be bad boys and enough chessy lines to make you sick then please go read.

Over All Story 7/10-

I think the fault falls on me for reading this book. But to my credit I was tricked by all the 5 stars and amazing reviews. Seriously it pulled me in like a fly into a zipper and man did I get fried.

I’m so tired of stupid females and alpha male that treat woman like crap. Can’t there be a balance?

“I’m so in love with you…” she whispered, so quietly like it was a secret from her soul.”

***Head meet desk.***

She was treated like crap for 95% of the book!

The plot

Dominic Armstrong, aka the king of assholes believes the world belongs to him. If he wants something then he better have it. He reminds me of Christian Grey, rich, fucked up, and sex crazed. (This is a new running theme in books) The moment he sees Eden Mecer in a bar he knows right away she has to be his.

“She became Dominic’s obsession, and he’d known instantly that he would own her. She’d been a rarity, an artifact, another possession he needed to add to his innumerable collection.”

Due to the death of her mother Eden Mecer finds herself in need of money fast. What does she do? Well she decides to marry Dominic. (She didn’t just jump at the chance. She didn’t want to at “first”. But hopes they will come to love each other….this isn’t the 1800s. I kept thinking WALK AWAY!

Well let’s fast forward to four years later. Eden has dealt with a lot of abuse. Verbally and sexually but she just goes along with it because after all she signed away her soul.

This is why this book just couldn’t work for me. Dominic spends almost all of the book telling her over and over again that he owns her. He boards on sadistic at times.

“Your such a fucking whore… I own you!”

He went from that too:

Also there were some very weird use of descriptions

“when that exploring hand gently pried her thighs apart, he discovered her garden, the fountain at her center overflowing with her essence, drenching his fingers.”

“he drank the flowing juices of her weeping womanhood with his rapacious tongue.”

There was also WAY more description used then dialogue which only just made everything feel slower.

I disliked Jenna, whom I’m guessing was supposed to be the “slut” after she goes after Dominic in the pool. I really didn’t she was important to the story.
